I went to the Star Trek Discovery Discussion area on the Paramount Star Trek at YouTube and was amazed what fans thought of the first few episodes and the PR leading up to the series. The number one complaint with those who did not like it was having to pay extra to get future episodes with the CBS all access app. Star Trek has always be very accessible when on TV and people objected that CBS wanted to get exclusive coverage on a pay only basis.
Second complaint was the Klingons and how they changed dramatically from the Klingons from the early Star Trek days and even from the Worf days on the Next Generation. Where did that come from? Personally I did not like having to follow Closed Caption for their language. I wish they just hinted that they were speaking a Kingon the switched to
English so it would be easier to follow. Most of the understanding of how things were 10 years before Captain Kirk and the Enterprise has been drastically changed. This really
surprised me. Also it is all about the war with the Kingons, throw out space exploration.
This I think is not how Gene Roddenberry conceived the show. That said, the program is very intriguing but not in a Star Trek way. If you put aside the fact that you are watching a Star Trek Production and resign yourself to the fact that it is total all out war it makes it interesting as a TV show. What they did to the main character Rainsford (Sonequa Martin) is quite remarkable but very depressing. I hope they turn the corner on the dreary and become more optimistic like Star Trek is
supposed to be. Also it seems no one has time for a sense of humor or feel good moments in the show.
The show is well done, the special effects are the best and the acting is outstanding. They did not spare money on the production. It is very high quality. I need to watch a few
more shows to get my final opinion on the show Star Trek Discovery. I have provided real comments taken from the discussion at CBS and remarks on YouTube for your

Absolutely NO interest in ST-Discovery..I do feel bad for the actors getting sucked into this..I’m pretty sure Gene Roddenberry’s vision DIDN’T INCLUDE having to pay for Star Trek on a “premium” channel.

CBS, please either add a comment saying that CBS All Access is not possible via youtube OR clearly indicate that it is, but don’t just upload teasers here since people will get confused. (They want to watch episode #2 and cannot, I think.)

Just watched the third episode… This IS NOT the Star Trek I grew up with for the last 50 years (I’ll be 59 this month) and never will be. So many things out of place and appearing before they should be. This is a hodgepodge, conglomeration of all Trek’s past and just feels wrong. I’ll probably end up reluctantly watching the entire mess, but I will never pay for it in any way shape or form. ( I subscribed for the freebie but have already canceled it) I really wanted to like this new version and kinda-sorta liked the set up of the first two episodes. But with this third episode and the actual premise of the show laid out…, I’m just SMH.

I was FULLY prepared to utterly hate this show. Until I watched the first three episodes. Now, I’m not going to say I like it better than TNG or DS9, but after three episodes I have to say I’m actually really impressed. It’s different. I think this represents the first golden age of the Federation, and by the time the series is over, the Star Fleet will be nearly destroyed, and maybe TOS actually represents a post-war Reconstruction Era. I like the unexpected feel of the writing. I like a lot of the characters. I think we should give it a chance. This could be a great Star Trek.

The new version of Harry Mudd seen in the trailer came across to me as the only reason to see what happens next potentially? Although he had too much of a Han Solo Star Wars vibe and didn’t come across as the clumsy, bumbling happy go lucky; con man-esque character he was in the original TOS Trek series!

This gentleman’s review on discovery is spot on. Totally agree!!! CBS needs to take note. The next Trek series they come up with, they need to listen to people who know Trek, hire writers that are familiar with the canon and won’t make stupid plot mistakes. hell, I could do a better job running this show!! But hey, there’s always Alec over at Axanar!!!
